Bo staff
We’re excited to announce Hauth’s Family Taekwondo is launching a standalone bo staff program led by Mr Allen.
What does this mean? Bo staff students will train to progress through seven chevrons (same concept as belts) starting by earning a yellow chevron and eventually progressing to a black chevron. It is standalone in that training and rank promotion will not be connected to our current taekwondo curriculum.
This is not a showy competition style, it is a traditional self defense style of bo staff training. Space is limited to 11 students, to leave enough room for the swinging of bo staffs, so we’re asking students to only sign up if they are committed to the program. It should take no less than 18 months to achieve a black chevron. Students must be 14 years old or must ask permission to participate.
Tuition can either be paid $50 monthly with a $100 initiation fee to cover a bo staff, training journal and t-shirt or in a lump sum of $1000 which covers the initiation fee and guarantees training up to a black chevron. Additional costs will include testing fees (6 tests over the course of the program with the same rate structure as taekwondo testing) and a padded sparring bo staff after about 6 months of training.
Bo staff class will be every Tuesday 7-8:00 PM starting 10/29. Students are required to log an average of 2 hours of training per week, including class, in order to keep up with the 18 month program. The logged practice hours are the responsibility of the student and are a requirement for permission to test for each chevron.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR MONTHLY TUITION YOU MUST ALSO PAY THE ONE TIME BO STAFF STARTUP FEE OF $100. FOR THE FIRST MONTH PLEASE PURCHASE BOTH!
