Mr. Chris Hauth
Mr. Chris Hauth began his martial arts journey in 1970. His mother enrolled his sisters, brother and him in Judo on an Air Force base in Wiesbaden, Germany. His family relocated to Sacramento in 1973. Mr. Hauth had another opportunity to enroll in Kenpo in 1977. This training was short-lived due to a commitment to other sports. In January 1982, he enrolled in Taekwondo and never looked back! He moved to Suisun City, Ca in 1984 to teach Taekwondo at a local Rec Center. In 1985, after he became a Nationally Certified Instructor, Mr. Hauth moved to Santa Rosa, Ca to manage a Taekwondo School. He married his sweetheart in 1986 and then opened his school in Healdsburg CA in October 1987. In January 1988 he relocated his Taekwondo school to Windsor, CA. Taekwondo has been a way of life for him and his family and community. The “Do” in Taekwondo is cemented in the very foundation of his teaching philosophy, spirit and attitude.
mRs. rhoda hauth
Mrs. Rhoda Hauth began her martial arts journey in 1987. She not only had the desire to inspire but participating in Taekwondo gave her an opportunity to spend time with Mr. Hauth. She is a Nationally Certified Instructor and a 6th Degree Black Belt. She has a B.A. in Psychology from Sonoma State University and currently is the office manager at Knight’s Electric and counselor at a home for transitional youth. Her energy and zest for life is infectious and de-caffeinated. In her spare time Mrs. Hauth volunteers for the Girls Scouts of America and teaches Sunday school.
Mr. jim mathison
Mr. Jim Mathison has been studying and practicing martial arts most of his adult life. Earning black belts in Judo and Jujitsu before in 1997 following his son onto the floor at Hauth’s Taekwondo. Ever since then he has been a student, instructor, and community member of Hauth’s Family Taekwondo. When not at the dojang Mr. Mathison can be found at the golf course or at home working on projects and spending time with his family and 9 cats.
MR. brandt hoekenga
Mr. Brandt Hoekenga has been practicing Taekwondo at Hauth’s Family Taekwondo since early 2014. He lasted one session watching his son earn his yellow belt before being sucked in himself. Prior to Hauth’s, Mr. Hoekenga had never considered learning a martial art or becoming a Nationally Certified Instructor. But today, between teaching with his wife Mrs. Christy Hoekenga, taking classes, and picking up his son Mr. Tage Hoekenga from the Dojang, Taekwondo has become a large and important part of his life. Mr. Hoekenga appreciates the sentiment that no one will ever be a master of the martial arts and as such strives to constantly improve while having fun and being imperfect.
When Mr. Hoekenga is not at the Dojang he enjoys (most of the time) playing golf, spending time with his family and two dogs, and is a Graphic Designer specializing in brand building for nonprofit organizations.
Mr. jason allen
Mr. Jason Allen joined Hauth’s Taekwondo in 2010 after years of training in various martial arts. He began teaching there in 2013, where he continues to teach and train in other arts and weapons. When he isn’t at the Dojang, he works as an organizational psychologist and management consultant. He loves to spend time with his family, his dog, traveling to Disneyland, and wood working.
Mr. kevin Dahlstedt
Mr. Kevin Dahlstedt never thought he would ever become a black belt. As a child he played many sports, soccer, baseball, football as well as track and cross country. It wasn’t until he put his kids in Taekwondo that he decided to start himself. Mr. Dahlstedt is now a 3rd degree black belt, soon testing for his 4th degree and just recently received his Nationally Certified Instructor stripe. When Mr. Dahlstedt is not in the Dojang he enjoys spending time playing tennis, a sport he’s been playing for the last 15 years. Most recently he has started breeding Maine Coon Cats. He has started a Cattery called Sonoma Maines Atticus and loves showing his beautiful cats at cat shows.
Ms. sarah lockwood
Like so many of Mr. Hauth’s instructors, Ms. Sarah Lockwood unwittingly began her black belt journey as a Taekwondo parent, sitting on those front room chairs, watching her young daughter kick, punch, and yell in a tiny little dobok. Ms. Lockwood was instantly captivated by Mr. Hauth’s teaching style and found herself chuckling at the stories he weaves into his classes. Outside of the dojang, Ms. Lockwood is a professional geologist and a wild horse trainer (her nickname is Horse Whisperer among her dojang friends). Working with wild horses requires energy sensitivity, bodily awareness and control down to the smallest details, quiet strength, mental and emotional control and responsibility, integrity of intention and action, even telepathy. Sitting on those front room chairs watching Mr. Hauth exemplify so many of these things (well, maybe not telepathy LOL) and talk about how these skills are developed through the martial arts practice started to make the light bulbs go off in Ms. Lockwood’s head. She realized that martial arts could be the missing piece to her horsemanship. She immediately joined Hauth’s as a white belt then in November of 2014 and has never looked back. Ms. Lockwood feels so much resonance with Taekwondo, she often says she doesn’t know why it took her so long to find martial arts. Training and instructing at Hauth’s has become a huge part of her life, has impacted and benefitted her horsemanship and fitness beyond measure, and comes with the best group of friends and support in the Hauth’s and other instructors. If you see Ms. Lockwood at the dojang or out around the town of Windsor, please introduce yourself! She will be happy to meet you and talk about Taekwondo, rocks, horses, and Taylor Swift. 😊
Mrs. christy hoekenga
Mrs. Christy Hoekenga joined Hauth’s Family Taekwondo in January 2017 at 40 years of age. She spent years observing her husband and son participate in classes, testings and award ceremonies from a seat in a chair or on the carpet. Becoming a black belt, let alone a Nationally Certified Instructor in Taekwondo is not something that she had imagined achieving in her adult life, and the journey does not end here for her. The community built by Mr. & Mrs. Hauth and her passion for teaching and continually learning the martial art has quickly become something that Mrs. Hoekenga cannot imagine her life without.
When Mrs. Hoekenga is not at the dojang she enjoys taking her two Golden Retrievers, Tor & Phoebe for their daily walk. She also loves to geek out about Disneyland, her home away from home, and visits there frequently with her husband and son. Oh yeah, and she has a day job too…Mr. & Mrs. Hoekenga are proud of the fact that they have successfully and happily run a graphic design & marketing business together since 2004.
Mr. tage hoekenga
Mr. Tage Hoekenga has been training at Hauth’s Family Taekwondo since early 2014, more than half of his life. He’s the youngest Nationally Certified Instructor at Hauth’s Family Taekwondo and teaches both children and adults regularly. When he’s not at the Dojang, Mr. Hoekenga is working out at the gym or mountain biking. Shortly after getting his black belt in 2016 he found a passion for teaching and hasn’t stopped since. In the last 9 years he has dedicated hundreds of hours towards helping bringing up the next generation of young black belts.
